Linoleum Cut Relief Printmaking 6/28
Saturday, June 28 from 1-5pm
Hartford Press Co-op Studio
56 Arbor St., Ste. 106
Hartford, CT 06106
A linoleum cut is created by carving away the surface of a block to leave the image standing “in relief”. The block is then rolled with a thick viscous ink that will sit only on the surface and not drop down into the lines that have been hand cut away. Paper is then applied to the surface of the block at which point it can be printed by applying pressure, either by hand rubbing with a baren or wooden spoon or by press printing.
In this workshop we will introduce participants to the basics of linoleum cut. We will plan, carve and print your image during this four hour session. You will be able to print both using our vandercook press and will also learn how to hand print your block!
Please bring some sketches or photos as inspiration. All other materials will be provided by the Co-op.
Instructed by Jenni Freidman.
This workshop is for adults 18+. All materials are included.
