Zhen Xian Bao with Anita Gangi Balkun
Learn the magic of Zhen Xian Bao – folded paper structures that can house small treasures, or mementos. Traditionally used by women in remote areas of Southwest China for their mending supplies, these ‘needle thread pockets’ are beautifully folded paper compartments (origami) layered upon each other and enclosed in a flexible cover.
Participants can add their own drawn designs with pencil/markers (the traditional way), or embellish their boxes with bold stamped images. Two different Zhen Xian Bao enclosures will be introduced in this workshop. Both tactile and mysterious, be ready to fill them with your treasures!
All supplies will be provided. A $12 supply kit fee is due to the instructor at the workshop.
